CHILDREN’S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH is a movement by teachers, dentists, health organizations, and families to help promote kids’ dental health awareness. Many schools bring in curriculum to help make dental hygiene fun and applicable for kids. Many dental professionals and organizations also make an effort to raise awareness. Did you know that tooth decay is the most common chronic disease in kids? In fact, 20% of preschoolers have tooth decay. Over 80% of those kids will have tooth decay once they reach high school. And by age 17, 7% of kids will have lost a permanent tooth due to tooth decay.

You Can Help

Here are a few things you can do to help promote better oral health for children:

  1. First of all, thanks for being one of our awesome patient families. You are already making a difference because YOUR OWN CHILD is learning about great dental health by simply being our patient.
  2. Download and print the image above for your child to color! Talk to him or her about the importance of oral health. It will be fun!
  3. We all have nieces, nephews, grandchildren, neighborhood children, best friends’ children, coworkers’ children, etc. During February, share the alarming statistics listed above! You can go to our Facebook page and share the graphic there that links to this blog post. Then, others can download the coloring sheet as a fun way to talk to their kids about oral health.

And Of Course…

We always appreciate your kind referrals of extended family members, friends, coworkers and neighbors. Our team loves what we do each day and many of our best patients and new friends come here through your referrals. Thanks.
