AS A PARENT, it’s not always easy to get your child to eat healthy! We understand. As you know, a healthy diet is essential to your child’s overall health, as well as the health of their teeth and gums!
Discuss These 3 Basic Principles With Your Child
Diet affects our teeth in different ways. Here are a few simple principles to kick off a healthy foods visit with your child… First, when food comes in contact with our teeth it leaves residue behind that can hurt tooth structure and affect gums. That’s why it’s so important to brush and floss. Second, diet affects our teeth because it provides the vitamins and minerals we need to support a healthy mouth. Our bodies are amazing! They can strengthen, mend, and recover from infections—but they need a proper diet to do so. Third, crunchy fruits and vegetables help scrub our teeth. They are like little janitors whose job is to keep our mouths tidy and clean. On the other hand, sticky, starchy candies and snacks that are loaded with sugar are like trouble makers that you don’t want hanging around! If you have a little snack once in a while, clean those trouble makers out of there when you’re done!
